The Irish Ceramic Dish is handmade in Ireland using Textured Stoneware Clay and the Triscele Symbol is impressed into the middle of the dish. The outer pattern is highighted by Michelle's signature rich metalic oxide whilst the Triscele symbol is picked out in a coloured glaze.
The Irish Ceramic Dish is handmade at the foothills of the Sperrin mountains in Ireland. Local ceramic artist, Michelle Butler, uses handmade plaster stamps to impress the decoration into formed clay.
The symbol on the Irish Ceramic Dish is a Triscele. The Triscele is the name for a circular design which consists of 3 legs or parts. It originated from the Celtic "La Tene" style and is found in celtic manuscripts such as the Book of Kells. The figure gives the impresion of movement as its three legs appear to be chasing one another, also knowing as Whirling, Flyot, Triskellion.
The Irish Ceramic Dish is hand made from a textured stoneware clay. The texture is given by adding sand in the clay which makes it truely unique. The finished product results in a earthy golden colour that makes it your perfect souvenir gift from Ireland.

Visited Lindisfarne and purchased my first piece of michelle butler and bought a second piece when I next returned.
I eventually found your website and ordered this piece online although I thought it would be a bit too fragile to get to me in one piece.
Very quickly after placing my order, it arrived, carefully packaged and still in one piece. It is the smallest of my pieces which makes it even more tactile than
the others. My two year old grandson appears to love it also - I caught him using it to rest his half eaten Jaffa cake on!
