Boat Plaque
The Boat plaque is handmade in Ireland, at the foothills of the Sperrin mountains. It is made from a textured stoneware clay
and finished with various coloured glazes and rich, metallic oxide.
Hessian string is attached to hang the plaque.
Handmade
Local ceramic artist, Michelle Butler, uses a handmade mould to press the clay onto to produce the plaque.
Each piece is pressed, finished, dried, biscuit fired, glazed and finally fired again to 1230 degrees centigrade.
The Boat
The boat is based on the Galway Hooker which was a traditional sailing boat used off the west coast of
Ireland around the 19th Century.
The Galway Hooker was developed for the strong seas around the Galway coast.
it has a single mast with one main sail which is a dark red-brown colour. The boat itself has a beautiful
curved shape and is black as it is coated in pitch.
Nominal Size:- 90 x 150 x 5 mm

Pretty present
Saw this in the House of Ireland shop at Belfast City Airport. Looked very pretty and artistic - an ideal present. Ordered online a couple of days before Christmas as a present for my sister . Lo and behold it was delivered to Cambridge in time for Christmas with a nice greeting card. Well done Michelle and co . I'll be getting some for myself soon.
